HARRISBURG – Rep. Jerry Knowles (R-Schuylkill/Berks/Carbon) and Sen. David Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) recently had the opportunity to meet with several Deer Lake Borough Council members to view the condition of Drehersville Bridge within the borough.

The borough has applied for a grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Multimodal Transportation Fund to replace the bridge, which is a thoroughfare for neighboring communities. The new bridge will allow for heavier equipment and emergency vehicles to cross the Pine Creek, increasing response time for emergency vehicles to respond to the needs of residents and neighbors alike.

“I am happy to work with local officials to try and secure the funds to replace the Drehersville Bridge in Deer Lake,” said Knowles. “These funds will allow for a new bridge that does not have load restrictions and will not prevent emergency vehicles from crossing over it.”

“I’m very supportive of the efforts by the Borough of Deer Lake to replace the Drehersville Bridge,” said Senator Argall. “These funds will make Deer Lake’s infrastructure safer and more efficient for local residents.”
